ARCOBase Module

The ARCOBase module is an extensible multimedia database used for storing all persistent data in the ARCO system. In particular, the following types of objects are kept in the database: cultural objects, media objects, visualization templates with technical objects (images, sounds, etc.), virtual exhibitions and scenarios, metadata, data dictionaries and administration data like information about users, groups, privileges.

ARCO database is extensible. Therefore, at any time, it may be extended by adding a new media object type or new metadata fields without database schema modification. This means, that if a new data type emerges on the market, there is no need to modify the database or ACMA. In such case it is enough to add a new data type definition using appropriate ACMA manager.

Currently ARCOBase module is built atop Oracle 10g RDBMS. It may be used also together with the free XE version.

ARCOBase is a required module of ARCO system. At least one such module has to be installed.
